West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service are opening their doors next week to encourage more people to become a firefighter.
If you live in or near Bognor Regis, there's a fresh call-out for wannabe firefighters to join the force and help the community.
They're on the lookout for retained, or on-call, firefighters and will be opening up the fire station doors on Saturday 23 April to those interested in finding out what a career as a retained firefighter is like.
The event will be held at West Meads Drive between 10am and 2pm, and is said to offer an insight into the life of a retained fighter.
People who work as in the 'retained' role usually have full time employment elsewhere but live or work within close proximity to one of the service’s fire stations - and when they're on duty, they can be paged at any time to respond to an emergency situation.
Alastair Letchford, Station Manager at Bognor Fire Station said: “Becoming a retained firefighter is a fantastic way of giving back to your community whilst being part of a great team and learning valuable skills.
“We’re really looking forward to welcoming people from outside the fire service onto the station. There will be a chance to learn about the application process, meet our current retained firefighters and explore the fire station.
“The day will be very relaxed, informal and completely commitment-free, so please pop down and find out whether a career in the fire service is for you.”
