Selsey Coastguard have been called to assist a capsized dinghy near Pagham Harbour.

In a statement they said: "Team paged to reports of a capsized dinghy with at least one person in the water off Pagham Harbour Entrance.

"Coastguard Helicopter "Rescue 175" Littlehampton Coastguard Rescue Team and both Selsey Lifeboats were also tasked.

"A 999 call came in to the Coastguard from a member of the public ashore saying that a dinghy with a sail had capsized with at least one person in the water.

"Thankfully the person in the water and the dinghy were OK and had managed to sort themselves out after capsizing."

The people are being praised for dialing 999 and asking for the Coastguard.

“The coast and the sea can catch you out whether you’re local or not. Our message remains: call 999 Coastguard if you’re in trouble. Please help us and our families to stay safe. Be aware of the risks, and keep your distance.”
