Community expressions of interest open for three youth centres

West Sussex County Council is looking to work with community groups to run three youth centres.

The County Council is seeking formal expressions of interest for the following:

• Bognor Youth Centre in Glamis Street, Bognor Regis
• Phoenix Youth Centre in Westloats Lane, Bersted, Bognor Regis
• Park Centre, in Park Road, Burgess Hill.

The agreement would work through a Community Asset Transfer and stage one formal expressions of interest are now open and will close on 8 February.. Any groups interested can find out more and register their interest

West Sussex County Council owns both the Bognor and Phoenix youth centres in the Bognor area. The Park Centre is owned by the charity St John’s Institute and we are seeking a group to manage and maintain the building on behalf of the charity.

The County Council supports the principle of the transfer of community assets to empower and strengthen local communities. We believe that transferring appropriate public assets to communities leads to more responsive services that better meet the needs of local people.

Any bid must secure the widest possible local support and input, and a detailed business case to support any application must be submitted. Applications from a single service in a single building are less likely to be successful.
