Entries open for Platinum Jubilee Community Hero Awards

Do you know someone who goes above and beyond for the local community?

Adur & Worthing Councils are inviting residents to nominate a local hero as part of the celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

We want to recognise individuals who give up their time and make a positive contribution to Adur and Worthing with a Platinum Jubilee Community Hero Award.

You can nominate anyone who helps out in the community, but specific consideration will be given to those who have been involved in:

  • Supporting communities through the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Helping people who are vulnerable and excluded, including the homeless and refugees
  • Activities that help to protect and enhance the environment

Individuals must have worked in a voluntary capacity and the nominated work must have taken place in Adur and Worthing between 2020 and the nomination deadline (2nd May 2022).

Winners will be invited to a reception hosted by the Mayor of Worthing and Chairman of Adur, where they will receive a framed certificate of recognition.

A Councils spokesperson said:

“The Queen has dedicated her life to service and duty and as part of our Jubilee celebrations in 2022 we would like to acknowledge the many individuals in Adur and Worthing who share these values and commitments.”

The deadline for nominations is Monday 2nd May 2022.

A shortlist of those nominated will be picked by a panel that will be chaired by the Mayor and Chairman and published shortly afterwards
