Festive fun with Independent Lives

West Sussex based charity, Independent Lives, is hosting a raft of festive activities throughout December.

On Saturday 11 December, Independent Lives staff and friends will be walking, running, and wheeling their way along Brighton seafront in the annual Santa Dash.

They are raising money to break down barriers faced by disabled people and to make the world a fairer place.

Shane Pontet, Santa Dash participant, said:

‘I’m delighted to be taking part in the Santa Dash this year! Every single penny we raise for Independent Lives makes a huge difference, and helps them to do whatever it takes to support their customers, especially over the holiday period which can be tough to cope with for many people. Please donate whatever you are able to afford.’

The following weekend, on Sunday 19 December, Independent Lives have arranged a Christmas choir sing-along, taking place from 10am – 11am at Montague Place, Worthing.

Broadwater Community Choir will be leading the festivities and will be taking donations on behalf of Independent Lives. Any money raised will be used in direct support of their customers, and will help them to continue their fantastic community support.

Rebecca Smicle, Chief Executive, said:

‘I’m thrilled that so many people have offered to come forward and support us with our fundraising activities over the festive season. The money you donate helps us to provide lots of extra activities for our customers, like Christmas meals, days out, and additional social events.

Independent Lives have also sponsored a Christmas tree in Worthing town centre, as a part of the Christmas tree trail which runs in the lead up to Christmas. Make sure you take a trip to their tree in the West end of Montague Street and follow the instructions you find to be entered into a fantastic prize draw.
