Plans to use land in Bosham as a glamping site have been refused by Chichester District Council.

The application from D Strange & Sons to change the use of agricultural land at Rectory Farm, in Walton Lane, was turned down by planning officers.

The grounds for refusal included the site being in an unsustainable location in the countryside, relying on people using cars rather than walking, cycling or taking public transport.

Officers also felt that not enough information had been submitted to demonstrate that such a site was needed.

They added that the site was within the 5.6km ‘zone of influence’ of the Chichester and Langstone Harbours

Special Protection Area, where an increase in overnight accommodation had caused ‘significant harm’ due to ‘recreational disturbance’.

To view the application, log on to publicaccess.chichester.gov.uk and search for 25/02977/FUL.
