Hundreds of people are protesting near Arundel.

Over 400 people are protesting over plans to build an A27 bypass near Arundel

People who live in Walberton, Binsted and Fontwell are criticising the plans which would see a road within metres of houses and schools.

It was given the green light in 2020 and has moved onto the stage for public consultation.

National Highways say the plans are vital to stop the build up of traffic around Arundel - causing accidents and deaths.

But local and environment campaigners say the impact would be devastating to the area.

It could mean villages of Walberton and Binstead would be affected.

A spokesperson for the campaingers said "A growing number of people now support the much lower impact Arundel Alternative - which makes improvements to the existing a27, rather than any offline bypass. It’s not currently being offered by National Highways, but people can say that is what they would prefer, if that’s the case".

You can find more information by visting https://www.arundelalternative.org/ and how to respond to the consultation at https://www.arundelbypass.co.uk/consultation-2022

Local campaingners have also produced this video setting out in their view "the damage" the proposed Grey Route will cause.
