Launch of Chichester Monopoly board

Chichester has its very own version of the classic board game Monopoly.

A special Chichester edition has been created to celebrate some of the city’s best-known landmarks, businesses and attractions, giving the traditional property-trading game a distinctly local twist.

Instead of the familiar London locations such as Mayfair and Park Lane, players can buy, sell and trade places linked to Chichester, with squares expected to feature well-known sites, venues and organisations from across the city and surrounding area.

The locally themed game has been produced as part of the long-running Monopoly city editions, which see towns and cities across the UK given their own customised boards reflecting local culture, heritage and community landmarks.

The Chichester edition has officially gone on sale today. From ten o’clock this morning, the game has been available to buy from several shops in the city centre, including Waterstones on West Street, Kids Stuff Toys on South Street, and TGJones on North Street.

It’s hoped the game will highlight some of the places residents and visitors know and love, from historic landmarks to popular local venues.

Monopoly, first published in the 1930's, remains one of the world’s most recognisable board games, with special editions created for hundreds of towns and cities across the globe.

Now Chichester joins that list.
