Man seriously injured after assault in Chichester

Police are investigating an assault in Chichester on New Year’s Day in which a 22-year-old man was seriously injured.

The incident happened in Southgate at the junction with Ave de Chartres at around 2.30am.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance involving a group of people, who then headed off south towards the railway station in the city.

Anybody who witnessed the incident, or has any information that could help with the investigation, is asked to contact police online or by calling 101, quoting serial 812 of 01/01
