Noticeboards in Bersted decorated as a mark of respect

Bersted Parish Council has decorated it's noticeboards this year as an act of remembrance.

The noticeboards across the parish have been decorated ready for this years Armistice Day.

Armistice Day is commemorated every year in the United Kingdom and across Sussex on 11th November to mark the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front which took effect at eleven in the morning—the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918.

A spokesperson for the Parish Council told V2 Radio that all the posters were designed in-house and the poppies were all handcrafted by local residents.

Organiser and Parish Councillor Keir Greenway says "This simple act by Bersted Parish Council is a reminder of the sacrifices our service men and women have made, past and present, to the Bersted Parish, but also to our way of life."

The signs will be up for the next 3/4 weeks across the Bersted Parish
