A brand new CT scanner and control suite has come into use at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester.
The £1.1 million project replaced the existing, outdated equipment with the latest in CT scanner technology. Both the scanning and control rooms were completely refurbished prior to the arrival of the new equipment.
Matt Arnold, CT Lead Radiographer, explained:
“The CT scanners we use are serviced and maintained regularly, but they still have a limited life span. Scanning technology moves on at a quick pace and this new machine allow us to scan patients more quickly and with lower X-Ray doses. We’ve got better scanning technology to offer our patients and a nicer environment for both them and our staff.”
University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has a rolling maintenance and replacement programme for imaging equipment across all its sites.
