Police are investigating a report of rape in Worthing.
The incident is believed to have happened shortly after eight o’clock last night in Lyndhurst Road car park.
The victim, a woman in her twenties, is being supported by specially trained officers while detectives carry out enquiries.
Police say a number of lines of investigation are underway and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Superintendent Jay Mendis-Gunasekera said: “We are at the early stages of this investigation and the victim will continue to receive our full support as this progresses.
“Detectives are exploring a number of lines of enquiry to identify and locate a suspect.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area overnight and into the morning, with a closure of the car park expected during the day as we gather and preserve any evidence.
“Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to contact police online or via 101, quoting Operation Blyth.”
