Two goals from Pascal Gross saw Brighton & Hove Albion to a shock 2-1 win at Manchester United.

After Albion defeated Manchester United last season, they opened the 22/23 season with a shock 2-1 beat away at Old Trafford.

Brighton manager Graham Potter said it was a fantastic effort and a great way to start their Premier League campaign.

It was a first defeat for Erik Ten Hag on his competitive debut as United boss.

After a goal by Pascal Gross, United got one in through an own goal through Alexis Mac Allister and whilst United aimed for at least an equaliser,  Albion stood strong and took away three points.

Speaking after the game, Potter acknowledged the own goal, saying “It was a disappointing goal to concede from our perspective, but we managed to hang in there and still caused some problems on the counter-attack. It was a great performance and I’m delighted for the boys. It’s a nice start.”

However, balancing out the negatives with the positives, with Albion having their first away win at Old Trafford.

Potter added: "Three points in the Premier League is always difficult to get but the way we did it was good, but we also know it’s only three points and we’ve got another tough game at the weekend.”

Brighton and Hove Albion's next fixture is on Saturday 13th August, where they play host to Newcastle United.
