Police have launched an investigation after a reported stabbing in Worthing prompted a major emergency response.
Emergency services were called to New Parade at around 3:20pm on Thursday following reports that a man had been stabbed.
Police officers and paramedics attended the scene.
V2 Radio understands that a 30-year-old man was injured in the incident and has been taken to hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been confirmed.
Sussex Police say an investigation is now underway to establish exactly what happened.
Residents nearby reported seeing a significant emergency service presence, with police vehicles and ambulances attending New Parade during the afternoon.
Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has information that could assist the investigation, to come forward.
Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the New Parade area around the time of the incident and may have seen anything suspicious.
