A new calendar with a difference featuring snaps of Felpham sea swimmers in the nude is on sale now ahead of 2022 to raise money for St Wilfrid's Hospice.
Mrs Stockley-Pollard said in a inteview with V2 Radio's Milly Luxford “One of the ladies who comes to the group came to her first meeting and broke down and we found out she’d sadly recently lost her husband to cancer.”
St Wilfrid’s Hospice had supported her and her husband throughout the last few months of his life and the group decided to raise money for them.
Although the team of ladies all from the local area experimented with a number of ideas to raise money, a calender, one which best represented the camaraderie and compassion of the group, seemed like a natural fit.
“This way, we can hopefully raise a bit more money for St Wilfrid’s because people are getting something back for their money and I thought it would give us a lot more to focus on because it won’t just be one day.”
St Wilfrid’s Hospice is much more than a building. They provide tailored end of life care both in the community and at the Hospice, supporting patients living with a terminal illness, and their family and friends. Their vital services are all provided free of charge, thanks to the generous support of fundraisers and donors. Only 16% of the running costs are currently met by the NHS and they rely on the community to fund the remainder, which equates to just over £7.8 million each year.
Every photo for the calender has been taken at a local beach here in West Sussex with some very famliar sights and 100% of the profits will go to St Wilfrid's Hospice.
Calendars are being sold for a suggested donation of £10 at St Wildfrid's shops in the local area (Felpham, Bognor, Barnham, Chichester) and the hospice itself. You still have time to order one for the new year by emailing felphamdippers@yahoo.com.
