Five Scouts from across Chichester and Bognor Regis District have been selected to represent their area at the World Scout Jamboree 2027 in Poland.
The group described their selection as a proud achievement, following a highly competitive process. Since being chosen, they have been actively fundraising and taking part in community events to help cover the cost of attending what they call a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Scouting has played a key role in shaping the group, helping them develop leadership, teamwork and resilience, as well as a strong commitment to supporting their local communities. Some of the Scouts also volunteer as Young Leaders, helping younger members gain confidence and new skills, aiming for the prestigious King’s Scout Award in the future.
The World Scout Jamboree is a major international event, bringing together thousands of young people from around the globe. It aims to promote cultural understanding, personal development and leadership, while encouraging participants to build friendships and learn from different perspectives.
The total cost for the five Scouts to attend is around £17,000. This includes travel, accommodation, event participation, equipment and pre-event training.
While the group is working hard to raise funds through various activities, they are now appealing for additional support from the local community to help them reach their target.
