West Sussex County Council Wants Your Help With Their Young People Plan

Families across West Sussex can to help shape a plan being developed by the County Council to make life better for children and young people.

Families across West Sussex have the chance to help shape a plan being developed to make life better for our children and young people over the next three years.

West Sussex County Council’s Children and Young People Plan for 2022 to 2025 will set out the priorities the Council and their partners should focus on, agree targets and how they'll achieve them.

Comments will inform and help them develop three key priorities:

• Keeping children and young people safe
• Addressing poverty and closing the disadvantage gap
• Improving emotional health and well-being

Jacquie Russell, Cabinet Member for Children & Young People, said: “The Children and Young People Plan is an important document that reinforces our commitment to putting children first, and establishes how West Sussex County Council and our Children First partners will work to keep children safe from harm and empower them to reach their full potential. Key to delivering this will be providing families with the right support at the right time so they can stay together safely.

“To help us develop our priorities, we have been speaking to groups of young people, parents and carers and various organisations. Now we have a first draft, we want to hear from parents, carers, and people who work with children such as health workers, school staff, for charities and anyone who would like to help us to improve the lives of our young people."

The results will influence the priorities in the final plan, changes needed, and how it should be presented to and shared with their communities.

The Council say the Children First Partnership is made up of a number of different organisations and groups of people in West Sussex, who all have the will to make things better for children and young people.
