On the morning of Saturday 25th May 2024, Chichester Pride will hold their first, historic Pride Parade through our city centre. This is an exciting addition to Chichester Pride’s main event day and will help to increase the visibility of the local LGBTQ+ community within the city.
Where and When?
The parade will form at 10am in Priory Park and start at 10.30am.
It will follow a short route via Guildhall Street from the park turning left down North Street then around the market cross to West Street finishing in front of the Cathedral.
The parade will arrive at approximately 11.15am. There will then be some short speeches after which the parade will disperse at 11.30am.
Parade Participants
Confirmed participants include the local LGBTQ+ drop in support group, the Scouts, Chichester Festival Theatre, the Big Noise Samba Band, Chichester University and Chichester College.
Pride Flags and Lighting
Chichester BID is kindly funding original rainbow flags and Pride progress flags for display in the city centre from mid-May to the end of June (Pride month). Additionally, the City Council will fly the Pride progress flag outside the Assembly Rooms and will light up both the market cross and the Assembly Rooms in Pride colours on the day of Pride.
Organisation
Permission to close certain roads to facilitate the parade has been gained from Chichester District Council and an experienced traffic management company are being employed to ensure the safety of all participants. The local police have also offered to be in attendance. Medical provision will be in place and the parade will be supported by volunteer marshals.
