A West Sussex charity helping around 2,000 women and girls every year is being recognised by Arun District Council for its vital work supporting vulnerable people facing domestic abuse, poverty and other difficult circumstances.

My Sisters' House Women's Centre provides specialist support to women, young women and girls across the Arun district, helping them rebuild their lives, regain confidence and find safety.

The charity supports those experiencing domestic abuse, sexual violence, stalking, exploitation, homelessness, mental health difficulties and financial hardship.

Arun District Council is highlighting the organisation's work as part of efforts to raise awareness of the support available to women and girls within local communities.

The centre provides early intervention, crisis assistance and ongoing guidance, helping women overcome difficult circumstances and move towards a safer and more independent future.

The council says services such as My Sisters' House remain essential, particularly as domestic abuse and controlling behaviour continue to affect women from all backgrounds.

It has also highlighted the importance of challenging the stigma surrounding domestic abuse, which can prevent victims from speaking out and seeking help.

The charity has also been selected as the official charity partner for the Bognor Prom Running Festival, taking place on Sunday 16 May 2027.

The popular event is expected to attract around 2,000 runners, providing an opportunity to raise vital funds and increase awareness of the charity's work across West Sussex.

Early bird registration for the running festival opens on 27 November 2026.

The partnership is expected to help My Sisters' House reach more people who may need support, while encouraging the wider community to get involved with fundraising.

Arun District Council is encouraging residents to help tackle violence against women and girls by raising awareness, challenging abusive behaviour and supporting those affected.

Anyone who needs assistance or would like to find out more about the charity can visit www.mysistershouse.info.

My Sisters' House can also be contacted on 01243 697800, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm.
