A man and a woman have been arrested over the death of a one-year-old girl who is thought to have "come into contact with chemicals" in London, police have said.
The Metropolitan Police said a 41-year-old man and a woman aged 26 were detained on Wednesday and were being questioned on suspicion of manslaughter.
The girl, who died later in hospital, was not known to them, the force added.
She is believed to have come into contact with chemicals in a flat in Newham, east London.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) called police to Barking Road, Upton Park, at around 1.20pm on Tuesday following reports of hazardous chemicals in a residential property.
Two adults and another child, aged six, were also treated in hospital. Their injuries were confirmed as not life-threatening or life-changing.
It is understood that the incident is not believed to be related to terrorism.
The girl's next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.
Around 12 people were evacuated from surrounding properties as a precaution as crews responded to the incident, LFB said.
