A man has been charged with murder following the death of a man following a reported aggravated burglary in Lewisham more than a year ago.

Romar McDermott, 22, from Wandsworth, appeared at the Old Bailey on Tuesday charged with the murder of Myles Meyjes.

The Metropolitan Police said he was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on 9 April.

Mr Meyjes died on 20 February 2025, eight days after he was admitted to hospital.

The 46-year-old had reported that he had been the victim of an assault during an aggravated burglary at his home in southeast London.

"Myles had been admitted to hospital eight days earlier on 12 February 2025, after he reported being the victim of an assault during an aggravated burglary at his home in SE12 several days earlier," police said.

A second man, Jamal Morgan-Salih, from Gravesend, appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court on 24 January, also charged with murder.

Morgan-Salih, 32, was remanded in custody before his next court appearance, also at the Old Bailey, on 9 April.

The charges were laid after the Met Police launched a murder investigation in December, after reviewing the findings of the post-mortem examination.
