A new affordable housing scheme in Birdham is set to receive half a million pounds in funding from Chichester District Council.
The development in Crooked Lane will provide 15 homes for social rent.
Most will be two and three-bedroom family properties, with some bungalows included.
The homes are being built by Hyde Housing and will be prioritised for people with a local connection to the village.
Councillor Oona Hickson, Cabinet Member for Housing, Revenues and Benefits, says: "Delivering decent homes for all is one of our key priorities as a council. As part of our recently adopted strategy for housing, homelessness and rough sleeping we have committed to working with a variety of other housing partners to help deliver affordable housing for our communities.
"Providing this grant will help meet a growing need and the social rented homes will be made available to those on the council's housing register. Those who have a connection to the Birdham Parish will be prioritised first, for example those who are permanently employed within Birdham or those who have an immediate family connection to an existing resident."
