£5m for Arun Valley Line Improvement Project

A Class 377 at Arundel Station

Major upgrades are on their way to the Arun Valley line with more reliable journeys and better stations are promised by National Rail.

The £5 million pound scheme will be delivered over a nine day period in the middle of August with planned engineering works also scheduled for weekends between July and October.

The refurbishment will see the line deep cleaned with track replaced along with the signalling system. Sections of track at Pulborough, Warnham and Barnes Green will also be replaced.

The nine day closure will take place between Saturday 14 August to Sunday 22 August.

Buses will replace trains along much of the Arun Valley Line, from Arundel and Three Bridges via Horsham, and between Horsham and Dorking. There will also be three weekends of engineering line closures in July and a further two weekend closures in September and October.

If anyone has any questions about the impact to a journey or about the works themselves, you can contact Network Rail on their national helpline
