Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash in Worthing.

Emergency services were called to the A2032 at around 1.35pm on Tuesday, following a collision involving a BMW and a silver Ford Focus Estate.

An 89-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the BMW, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The 21-year-old driver of the Ford Focus has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

The A2032 was closed in both directions from the junction with Lindum Road and the roundabout with The Boulevard and Durrington Lane while emergency services responded to the incident.

Witnesses or anyone with information, such as dashcam, CCTV, mobile phone or doorbell footage is asked to report it to Sussex Police online or email: collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk and quote Operation Westfield.
