Arun Residents Preparing for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

A host of special events will be across Arun this year to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee and mark her 70-year reign as monarch.

And in preparation, Arun District Council say they're currently processing applications for many events which will be shared on the website soon.

In order to successfully apply to hold an event, including an event related to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Events Policy requirements must be followed.

This means if your event will have 500 attendees or fewer, you need to apply at least eight weeks in advance (deadline Friday 8 April 2022)

If your event will have between 500 to 999 attendees, you need to apply at least 12 weeks in advance (deadline Friday 11 March 2022)

For events with 1000 attendees or more, you should contact the council as soon as possible, and they'll advise you how much notice is required. Events with a large number of attendees or that pose a high level of risk may require up to nine months’ notice, due to the potential need to arrange multi-agency Safety Advisory Group (SAG) meetings.

As well as larger events, many residents will be planning street parties within their communities. It is important to look into what guidance is in place, especially as a road closure may be needed. The application deadline for street parties to celebrate the Jubilee is 15 April 2022 and there is no fee for administering and granting road closures.

Applications for events and road closures should be submitted as soon as possible rather than left until the deadline. This will help the process to be as efficient as possible.
