Brinsbury College Principal’s MBE Pride

An honour and a privilege. That’s how Brinsbury College Principal Sally Challis-Manning described the feeling she had when she received an MBE last week.

Sally was presented with an MBE by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne on Wednesday 2 February at Windsor Castle, after she was included in the New Year’s Honours in 2020.

Sally, who was honoured for Services to Further Education, said she exchanged a few words with the Princess Royal about Brinsbury College and its important role in providing vital land-based qualifications to young people in West Sussex.

She said: “It was an incredibly special day and one I shall never forget.

“It was so humbling to be receiving my MBE alongside people who have done so much for so many people. It really was an honour and a privilege to be there with them.

“The Princess Royal was interested in my own background in education and spoke briefly about our college mergers and the specialist role of our land-based college Brinsbury

“It was a day to remember. We were treated with so much care and kindness by the staff at Windsor Castle, who really made you feel special. I am incredibly proud.”
