Crimestoppers to go into schools and colleges in Arun

A push to raise awareness of Crimestoppers’ anonymous crime reporting service is being rolled out in Arun.

The charity’s campaign called 'Fearless', launched in schools and colleges, aims to give residents the confidence to speak up about criminal activity without revealing their identity.

Community intelligence plays a vital role in reducing all crime, Crimestoppers offers a quick, safe, and entirely anonymous way for residents to share crucial information that can make a real difference.

Regional Manager for Crimestoppers Sussex, Annabelle Goodenough, said: “We receive significant information from the community across Sussex, leading directly to seizures of drugs and weapons, stolen goods, arrests, and the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children. This demonstrates the tangible impact of anonymous reporting.

Crimestoppers is proud to launch this campaign, working alongside those who live and work here to help make the area safer and empower the community to speak up”

Chair of the Safer Arun Partnership, Councillor Alan Butcher, said: “We’re excited to be partnering with Crimestoppers to promote the charity and inform residents of the option to report crime anonymously. This campaign will hopefully encourage people to feel more confident about reporting and to let them know that the information they share directly helps to strengthen our local communities.”

Every piece of information shared with Crimestoppers is vital in building the intelligence picture of those involved in criminal activity and in helping to reduce crime and save lives.

In an emergency, or if you see a crime taking place, call the police on 999 or 101.
