Driver killed in A27 collision as passenger suffers life-threatening injuries

Sussex Police have confirmed a man has died in a collision on the A27 in West Sussex. The road remains closed between Fishbourne and Emsworth.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said a black Volkswagen Golf travelling east towards Chichester crashed at 11.30pm last night.

The driver, a 25-year-old man from Havant, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger – a 19-year-old man also from Havant – suffered life-threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital.

Police say the road is likely to remain closed in both directions between Fishbourne and Emsworth roundabouts for some time whilst the investigation takes place, and motorists are advised to look for other routes.

Police are appealing for witnesses and want to hear from anyone with dash cam footage of the collision or the Golf being driven prior to the collision.

Call 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Westdown.
