Fees for road closures waived for Platinum Jubilee

This year The Queen will mark her Platinum Jubilee with a four-day bank holiday weekend and Adur & Worthing Councils are keen to encourage residents to come together and celebrate with street parties in their own communities.

Throughout the UK communities are being urged to come together between Thursday, 2nd and Sunday, 5th June 2022 for The Big Jubilee Lunch as part of the official celebrations.

To help make planning street parties easier Adur & Worthing Councils have waived any fees for road closures for the whole of the bank holiday weekend.

A street party is defined as an event that is organised by and for residents in one or two small streets without external publicity.

Residents will need to apply for permission to host a street party and two application forms will be required:

  • one to inform the Councils about your celebration
  • and another to request a road closure

All applications must be submitted by Friday, 15th April 2022. Permission will not be granted to any applications received after this date.

Organisers of larger public events in more than two streets or that take place on a major road will need to apply for extra permission.

Application forms can be found on the Councils' website:
