Eleven young people have completed the latest GRIT course run by West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
The programme is designed to boost resilience and wellbeing, with pupils aged 11 to 13 from The Regis School and Felpham Community College taking part in firefighter-style drills, team challenges, and first-aid training.
Their achievements were celebrated at a special pass-out parade at Bognor Regis Fire Station.
Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Andy Piller, attended the event and presented the young people with their certificates.
Speaking after the event, he said: “It was fantastic to meet our latest GRIT students and see first-hand the commitment and enthusiasm they have shown throughout the course.
“They have all worked hard and have demonstrated excellent team working and communication skills. These skills along with the confidence and resilience they have developed during the course will serve them well in life.”
Councillor Duncan Crow, Cabinet Member for Community Support, Fire & Rescue, said: “This course is a fantastic example of how our fire and rescue service goes beyond emergency response to make a real difference in the community. By investing in young people, we’re helping to build stronger, safer communities for the future.”
