Panel members sought for the Sussex Police and Crime Panel

The Sussex Police and Crime Panel is looking for two new members to help scrutinise the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).

The new members will join the Panel to hold the PCC to account and to provide checks and balances in relation to the Commissioner’s actions and decisions

Experience in community safety, victim support, criminal justice and related issues would be helpful, but is not essential.

Applicants should live within the Sussex area (West Sussex, East Sussex or Brighton and Hove).

There is no salary for the role, but travel expenses can be reclaimed.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 14 May 2021. Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be conducted on Friday 4 June 2021. These interviews will be held in Lewes or remotely via video call.

The Police and Crime Panel scrutinises the performance of Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner.

It comprises councillors from each of the 15 local authorities within the Sussex region, and two independent members. The Panel meets formally four times a year, face to face in Lewes, East Sussex.

This is currently dependant on COVID-19 restrictions so until restrictions are lifted these can also take place remotely, with members joining from their homes using their personal computers.
