Littlehampton RNLI helm celebrates 30 years of volunteering

Ivan Greer is celebrating an incredible 30 years of service as a volunteer at Littlehampton RNLI Lifeboat Station.

Ivan, who is 51 and lives in Littlehampton, joined Littlehampton RNLI in 1991 as trainee crew. He successfully qualified as crew and then as a helm – a role in which he is responsible for the lifeboat during shouts and training sessions. He is also one of the station’s mechanics, who makes sure that the station’s two lifeboats are maintained and ready for service.

Despite his extraordinary commitment and service to the community, Ivan has no plans to stop. ‘I will keep volunteering for Littlehampton RNLI as long as I am able to,’ he said.
