‘Make a Will’ Fundraiser Hailed a Success by Bognor based charity

West Sussex charity 4Sight Vision Support is celebrating the success of its first ever Make a Will Fundraising Scheme which ran throughout September 2021.

With the kind support of Kreston Reeves, people were invited to make or revise their Wills or Lasting Powers of Attorney for free, in return for a donation to 4Sight Vision Support which provides support and specialist information to blind and sight impaired residents throughout the county.

Kreston Reeves provide specialist legal and financial services to families and charities. Solicitors Philip Lansberry, Catalina Lowe and Sarah Kench of Kreston Reeves were directly involved in the scheme, initially holding two informal Will/Lasting Powers of Attorney free workshops. These were an opportunity for people to ask questions about Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

Everyone wants to know how money and possessions will go to the people, places and charities that they care about. Having a properly made Will would ensure that the burden of taking care of your affairs is greatly lessened for your family or friends. It will also ensure that, in the case of an unmarried person, assets will pass to their partner.

The Scheme has raised over £2,000, and Fundraising Manager Julie Branson is delighted with the total achieved. “4Sight Vision Support would like to sincerely thank the staff at Kreston Reeves who donated their time for free. As a result, we have been able to raise a substantial amount to help our work supporting those with sight loss across West Sussex. Due to the success of the scheme, we are very much hoping to run it again later this year".

It is estimated that there are over 2 million people living with sight loss in the UK, and over 35,000 people living with sight loss or low vision in West Sussex (RNIB West Sussex Data 2020).
