Man arrested for racially abusing officer in Bognor Regis

Police have arrested a man in Bognor Regis on suspicion of racially abusing an officer.

On 17 June, police were called to reports of a man trying to gain entry to a property in West Street, Bognor Regis. The suspect, a 25-year-old man from Bognor Regis, was arrested for criminal damage.

While in police custody, the suspect allegedly racially abused an officer of Filipino descent. The suspect was then further arrested for racially aggravated public order.

The suspect has been released on conditional bail while the investigation continues.

Sussex Police takes any allegations of abuse towards its officers extremely seriously, and any reports will be met with appropriate action.
