West Sussex County Council says it is aware of the meningitis outbreak in Kent and is keeping the situation under review.
While concerns have been raised locally, officials confirm there are currently no cases in West Sussex.
Residents are being advised to keep up to date with official guidance as the situation develops.
In a statement issued online, West Sussex County Council said:
West Sussex County Council is aware of the outbreak of meningococcal disease group B (MenB) in Kent.
Understandably, this may cause concern in West Sussex.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is leading the response to the Kent situation, and West Sussex County Council’s Public Health team is staying in close contact with them and local partners.
At this time there are no recorded cases of meningococcal disease in West Sussex.
