Public Appeal Successfully Helps Trace Pedestrian in Worthing

Sussex Police Appeal

Sussex Police have now tracked down a pedestrian they wanted to speak to following a pursuit in Worthing.

Police have now traced a pedestrian who they wanted to speak to following a pursuit in Worthing earlier in the week.

That's as on Thursday (February 3), a Volkswagen Golf was reported stolen from outside a house in Withdean Road, Brighton.

Officers responded and traced the car to the Worthing area, where it was pursued after being reported at about 12:50pm that day.

The vehicle then hit a lamppost and a vehicle in Romany Road, Durrington, before the driver abandoned it and ran off.

A man was safely arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and later on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision.

He remains in custody.

Officers had wished to speak to a man who was almost struck by the vehicle in New Road, Worthing - which - which caused the police to launch an appeal for the pedestrian.

Following an appeal, he has come forward and is helping police with ongoing enquiries, but they continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward on their website or by calling 101 quoting serial 606 of 03/02.
