Refuse strikes called off in Worthing and Adur end as an agreement is reached.

UNISON union have secured a pay rise for  cleansing, waste and recycling workers in Adur and Worthing councils.

The pay rise is due next month as per the agreement that was reached last week.

The unions have been in talks since last autumn with local authorities.

UNISON have said the deal will allow them to start taking more money from Wednesday and also they will be placed on higher salaries from next month.

HGV drivers can also expect a £2,000 market supplement, the union however is pushing for this to be increased to £2,500.

The pay rise will affect staff collecting recycling from domestic and business premises, mechanics looking after refuse, street cleaners and staff collecting rubbish.

The councils have said they are continuing to review to rebalance rounds and demands.
