South's students pick up GCSE results

Students across the South have been receiving their GCSE results.

We had A-level results last week, and now it's the turn of GCSEs.

In West Sussex 68.1% of pupils this year scored 4 and above that’s the equivalent to the old C and above.

East Sussex scored less with 67.8% and 66.7% of pupils in Hampshire scored 4 and above.

However, when you add up the whole of the South East, the total comes to 70.1%, which means the V2 region is just below the average mark.

West Sussex Councillor Jacquie Russell, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Learning said: “Congratulations to everyone receiving GCSE results today, you should all be proud of your achievements. I would also like to highlight the work put in by West Sussex schools, teachers, parents and carers who have helped students reach this milestone.

“Our careers team are on hand to provide support for you, whatever you choose to do next. There are plenty of opportunities available including further education, apprenticeships and other training, or employment, and support is available to help you fulfil your potential.”

A breakdown of all grades by region can be found on Ofqual’s website.
