Strong winds and heavy rain set to batter West Sussex tomorrow

Strong winds and heavy rain are expected during Saturday afternoon and evening (2nd October), leading to some possible disruption to travel across the County.

The Met Office has today issued a "Yellow Weather Warning" for tomorrow, with details of what Sussex residents can expect. 

Gusts of wind are likely to reach 45-55 mph inland with 65 mph possible along exposed coastal areas.

What to expect across the County

•    Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
•    Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
•    Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
•    It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
•    Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer

  • East Sussex
  • Hampshire
  • Isle of Wight
  • Portsmouth
  • Southampton
  • Surrey
  • Medway
