West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service says twelve students have now finished its latest IGNITE course.
The scheme focuses on confidence, wellbeing and positive relationships.
Young people aged sixteen to nineteen from Chichester College completed a series of simulated firefighter exercises designed to boost teamwork and emotional resilience.
A special pass out parade was held to celebrate the students’ achievements on Friday (13 February) at Bognor Fire Station in front of their proud families.
Area Manager for Service Delivery, Ady Carter, attended the event and presented the young people with their certificates.
Speaking after the event, he said: “It was fantastic to meet our latest IGNITE students and watch them demonstrate their new skills.
“They have all worked really hard and should be proud of everything they have achieved.
“I hope this course has given them an insight into the fire and rescue service and may inspire them to consider this as a future career.”
Councillor Duncan Crow, Cabinet Member for Community Support, Fire & Rescue, said: “I would like to congratulate the young people who completed the IGNITE course. These programmes delivered by our Targeted Education Team make a real difference in helping to build stronger, safer communities across West Sussex.”
