Sussex Police log nearly 3,000 car accidents in the past year as worst areas for collisions are revealed

Figures obtained from a Freedom of Information Request to Sussex Police have revealed there were almost 3,000 collisions in the region involving cars in the last year.

The report by Accident Claims Advice shows that Brighton and Hove had the most incidents, at 416, followed by 309 in Wealden, with Arun and Horsham having 257 incidents each.

According to the figures, the leading causes included reckless driving, not looking properly and failing to judge a driver's speed.

Road Traffic Accident Manager for JF Law, Tracey Chick, said: “Each road traffic incident represents a moment of distress and potential life-altering consequences for those involved.

“If you have been involved in an accident, your safety should be the immediate priority, before exchanging details with the other involved parties, and reporting the incident to the police if there are injuries or significant damage.”

Over the past year, Sussex Police have logged 2,824 collisions across their area of remit, providing a breakdown of the locations where the accidents occurred.

Tracey Chick also commented, saying: “We urge all drivers to obey traffic laws and prioritise the safety of themselves and other road users, as a split-second decision can have lifelong consequences. Let's all commit to making our roads safer."
