Two best friends are due to complete an epic three-week, 2,600-kilometre cycling challenge today, riding from Morocco back to Plumpton Racecourse near Lewes.

Tom Savill, who is director at the racecourse, and his friend Joe Lush are aiming to raise £25,000 for research into the rare disease that claimed the life of Tom’s 22-year-old sister Charlotte last August.

They’re expected to arrive in time for the Charlotte Savill Memorial Raceday.

Tom, who is director of Plumpton Racecourse, says: “Charlotte showed such incredible strength and courage through everything she faced. No matter how many treatments and operations she had, or how tough things got, she never lost an ounce of her positivity. If she could go through all that, then Joe and I can certainly push through a couple of thousand kilometres on a bike.

Charlotte’s father and owner of Plumpton Racecourse, Peter Savill, will be making an address at the charity raceday in honour of his daughter.
