Vitacress supports local charities throughout pandemic

Sussex-based fresh produce supplier, Vitacress Herbs, has helped to provide much needed support during a time when charities have had to cancel their fundraising activities.

The ongoing health crisis put a stop to the usual calendar of events, which has meant many charities have struggled to raise the funds they so desperately need. In addition to the Sussex Snowdrop Trust, UK Harvest and the local youth football team were among those to benefit from donations from Vitacress Herbs.

As Vitacress Herbs’ Charity of the Year in 2020, the Sussex Snowdrop Trust received a donation of £1,463, which was raised through plant sales and topped up by the company.

Di Levantine, Chairman and Co Founder of The Trust explains, “We were excited to hear about all their fundraising initiatives planned last year. However, as the pandemic meant these could not take place, we were delighted that Vitacress employees continued to fundraise through onsite plant sales and the organisation itself also provided a generous contribution to the charity.

"We are so grateful to Vitacress for their dedication and commitment this year.”  The Trust provides vital nursing care at home for children who have a life threatening or terminal illness. Throughout this anxious time, their incredible nurses continued to provide care to these vulnerable families.

“Each year we commit to supporting a charity voted for by our colleagues”,  said Simon Conway, Managing Director, Vitacress Herbs. “We care about our local communities and about the environment, so want to help where we can.”

It’s not just money Vitacress Herbs has donated. Last year it gave over 3,000 pots to UK Harvest, a charity with a mission to eliminate food waste and kitted up the local youth football team – Climping Rangers, by sponsoring their rain jackets.

Vitacress Herbs also donated money to the Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice, Rickshaw Challenge for Children in Need and the Macmillan Cancer Support.
