The company are blaming an electrical fault on Saturday night on one of their high voltage transformers in Eastbourne.
Southern Water say they've been in regular contact with the Environment Agency to provide them with updates.
The company say a generator has been brought in to restore power.
It's not the first time Southern Water has been criticised for their waste management - last year the company were fined £90 million for dumping raw sewage into the sea.
