Police are seeking witnesses after a blue BMW crashed into a railway barrier on the A259 at Rustington.
Sussex Police informed V2 Radio that the incident occurred between the junctions of Mill Lane and The Body Shop roundabout earlier today at around 5.08pm (Thursday 13 May) during rush hour and on a busy stretch of the A259.
The male driver was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton by air ambulance, suffering with serious injuries. No other vehicles were involved.
The road has been closed in both directions as emergency services remain at the scene, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes in the meantime.
PC Tom Van Der Wee from Sussex Police tweeted from the scene earlier this evening.
