World Homeless Day (10th October) will be marked in Chichester by homeless charity Stonepillow with a Big Sleep Out in the town centre on October 16th.

On 10th October people around the world will mark ‘World Homeless Day’ in many varied ways and change the lives of people experiencing homelessness in their local community. The concept of 'World Homeless Day' emerged from online discussions between people working to respond to homelessness from various parts of the world. Its purpose is to draw attention to people who experience homelessness locally, and provide opportunities for the community to get involved in responding to homelessness.

On October 16th Stonepillow are inviting people to join them at their "Big Sleep Out" event in the grounds of Chichester Cathedral, where you can build a shelter and enjoy some family entertainment.

There'll also be an Ecumenical Celebration of Life service at the cathedral, in memory of people lost during the pandemic.

If you can't attend the event in Chichester, Stonepillow suggest building a shelter at home and giving up your bed in support and understanding of those who don't have somewhere warm and safe to sleep.
