Worthing RUNFEST to return to seafront in 2022

Worthing leaders have welcomed the planned return of a family-friendly running festival which will bring thousands to the town's seafront.

After two years of postponements due to bad weather and COVID, the Worthing RUNFEST will return on 24th April, 2022, under new management.

Worthing RUNFEST will consist of a 10km and Half-Marathon run that will start and finish right on the seafront next to The Worthing Lido and 2019's 'Pier of the Year'.

The personal best potential course will be fully road closed and will be flat as a pancake with sea views the entire route. Runners will be rewarded afterwards with a technical running t-shirt (male and female cut) and a bespoke medal.

It is planned that a bigger event in 2023 will include a fun community music after-party similar to the Richmond RUNFEST, which the team have run successfully for ten years.

Cllr Kevin Jenkins, Leader of Worthing Borough Council, said:

“It is great to welcome back this event that was founded in 2016. The Worthing Running Festival is a great event that promotes healthy active lifestyles. It is hugely beneficial to both physical and mental well-being and therefore it is important that we have events like this which are accessible to all”.

Race Director Tom Bedford said:

“The first thing on my to-do list is to change the previous event's luck after two postponements in a row. Once we solve that, we can focus on bringing a fun community after-party to the event. Our team cannot wait to meet the local running community and also take part in the Worthing parkrun.

"Over the last ten years in Richmond, we have created west London's largest mass participation event with a fun family after-party that brings the community together”.
