The new hub will be located at Westgate leisure centre in the city. It will operate in addition to other sites in the area including at the Selsey Medical Centre and at Tangmere Village Hall.

It comes as residents raised their concerns to the NHS, saying that they need a more accessible vaccine centre in Chichester city centre.

But local NHS leaders said that, while a number of venues in the city centre had been considered, none were suitable, until now.

They have been keeping residents in the loop though, as last week they confirmed a city centre site was being looked at once again.

The Westgate leisure centre should be easier to get to, for those travelling in by public transport.

This follows on from Chichester District Council, they are now calling for residents who are eligible for the vaccine, or 70 and over to get in contact with their local GP, if they have not been given an appointment yet.

They tweeted to say: "Are you aged 70 and over and not had your COVID-19 vaccination yet in the Chichester area? If so, the NHS wants to hear from you.

"Are you a patient at Cathedral Medical Group, Langley House Surgery, Lavant Road Surgery, Parklands Surgery, Selsey Medical Practice, Southbourne Surgery, Tangmere Medical Centre, or Witterings Medical Centre?"

It comes as the government's aim is to get the top four vulnerable groups vaccinated by mid-February.
