Katie Ahearn
Where in Sussex are you based?:
Crawley
Musical taste:
Bit of everything. Press shuffle on my playlist and you’ll probably end up very confused…think Lana Del Rey one second and garage music the next. I’ll blame my time at Leeds Uni for that one!
How long have you been involved in journalism?:
Does making gossip magazines about fake celebrities when I was little count?! If we want to get really specific, I launched my own music blog when I was 16 and did a bit of freelance work. But I really got started when I began my degree in Journalism, which gave me lots of opportunities to try different things – and where I realised that broadcast is my preference.
Favourite part of Sussex:
Anywhere by the sea – I’m rather partial to a wander down the front at Littlehampton, a bit of crabbing, and grabbing a fish and chips from Fred’s (my fave seaside lunch ever). That’s even in January where my ears sting from the cold!
What excites you about V2 Radio & journalism?:
I find it really exciting how hyperlocal V2 Radio is. Where else are you going to hear about a fundraiser your neighbour’s doing, live on air? For me, the best thing about radio and journalism in general is having the opportunity to tell people’s stories, plus having a good natter to those from all walks of life.
