Bank Holiday Weekend football - All you need to know

It promises to be another busy weekend of football across the South, with Portsmouth, Southampton, Brighton, and a number of Sussex sides all in action.

Portsmouth make the trip to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon as they look to continue building momentum under head coach John Mousinho. Pompey have made a solid start to the Championship season, and Mousinho has urged his players to approach today’s match in a positive manner.

Also in the Championship, Southampton are back at St Mary’s where they host Stoke City, also with a three o’clock kick-off. The Saints are hoping to maintain consistency after what has been a mixed run of early results.

In the Premier League, Brighton head to Goodison Park on Sunday to take on Everton. The Seagulls currently sit eighth in the table, just below Leeds United, and will be aiming to push further up the standings. Roberto De Zerbi’s side have shown plenty of attacking flair so far this season.

In League Two, Crawley Town fans will be hoping this is the weekend they finally see their side record a first win of the new campaign. The Reds ended a difficult run of three straight defeats in midweek when they earned their first point of the season with a battling home draw against MK Dons.

There is plenty of non-league action as well. In National League South, Eastbourne Borough make the long trip to Bath City, while Worthing play host to Enfield at Woodside Road. Horsham, meanwhile, entertain Torquay United at the Camping World Community Stadium — a big occasion as they welcome one of the division’s more high-profile sides.

And in the FA Vase First Qualifying Round, Selsey are at home to Ringwood Town. Kick-off for that match is also at 3pm, as the hosts look to progress further in the competition.

With matches across all levels of the game, fans in Sussex and beyond will have no shortage of football to follow over the Bank Holiday weekend.
